One youth was killed and two others critically injured. -- Eight Wollongong students have gained some of the most distinctive passes in the Higher School Certificate examinations. Among them is Jillian Thomas of Figtree Heights who is Dux of SCEGGS at Keiraville. -- Wollongong's new extension to the motorway recorded its second accident yesterday afternoon when a late model sedan crashed at the southern end. The southern extension has been operating for approximately two weeks, with local opinion sharply divided on the new 60 miles per hour speed limit on the new section. -- Wollongong's on-again off-again Summer returned to the South Coast today, but not for long. In a season that has been marked by marked by cold winds and ever changing conditions, today's warm Summer sunshine was boon to housewives, holidaymakers, and vacation school children alike. Here at Wollongong's North Beach a big crowd of 3 to 4000 enjoyed good surfing conditions, tempered by a cool North East breeze. -- Wollongong new million-dollar courthouse is progressing on schedule, despite setbacks encountered by the builders. The main set back to the construction of the courthouse has been layers of rock which the builders did not expect to strike.
