CreatorKiama (N.S.W. : Municipality). CouncilDate1890-1960DescriptionThe Municipality of Kiama was proclaimed on 11 August 1859. The Municipality underwent a number of name and boundary changes. On 24 April 1871 the Municipal Districts of Gerringong and Broughton’s Vale were created out of the former Gerringong Ward of the Municipality. The remaining two wards were styled the Borough of Kiama. On 30 October 1890 the Borough was divided into the Boroughs of Kiama and East Kiama. The Borough of East Kiama became the Municipality of Kiama and the Borough of Kiama became the Municipality of Jamberoo on 31 March 1892. As a result of efforts to reorganise local government, the municipalities of Kiama, Jamberoo and Gerringong amalgamated on 11 June 1954 to form the newly constituted Municipality of Kiama. The Municipality of Broughton’s Vale had become part of the Shoalhaven Shire in 1947.Collection NameKiama Municipal CouncilUOW Archival Collection Inventories
