Appin Mine Inquiry collection guide

CreatorNew South Wales. Court of Coal Mines RegulationDate1979-1980DescriptionAt about 11:00pm on the 24th July 1979, there was an explosion at the Appin Colliery, NSW. The Colliery was owned by the Australian Iron and Steel Collieries Ltd and fourteen men were killed as a result of the explosion. An inquiry under the provisions of the Coal Mines Regulation Act was conducted into the causes and circumstances of the explosion. The inquiry was conducted by Judge Goran and lasted from 24 September 1979 to 25 January 1980 at the Court of Coalmines Regulation, Wollongong.
