Creator1st Wollongong Scout GroupDate1966-1977DescriptionThe First Wollongong Scout Group was part of the Keira District of the South Coast and Tablelands area in 1977. It is one of the oldest established in the Illawarra. Members first came from the city’s newer, wealthier areas such as Mt Ousley, Mt Pleasant, Keiraville, and Figtree and then expanded to include boys from inner north-western suburbs of Wollongong. In 1977 it controlled land and buildings of above average value for South Coast and Tablelands area groups and was the first in Wollongong to purchase and operate its own bus.
