In March 1953, the Farmborough Amenities Committee was formed to represent the residents of the developing suburb of Farmborough. On 26 October 1959, the Farmborough Heights Progress Association was formed out of the two earlier bodies. The Association has been involved in agitating for improvements in the provision of water, electricity, sanitary and public transport services in the Farmborough-Unanderra district.
