Wollongong BranchDate1955-1973DescriptionThe Boilermakers' and Blacksmiths' Society of Australia came into being on 21 September 1965 due to the amalgamation of the Blacksmiths' Society and the Boilermakers' Society of Australia. Negotiations between the two societies had begun in 1943 on the question of amalgamation. In 1972, the Boilermakers' and Blacksmiths' Society of Australia joined with the Amalgamated Engineering Union and the Sheet Metal Workers' union to form the Amalgamated Metal Workers' union.
