This association lapsed and was not revived until 1885 when the Miners’ Mutual Protective Association (1885-1890)] was formed. In 1915, an association of colliery workers in NSW, Victoria and Tasmania was brought about by the establishment of the Australasian Coal and Shale Employees’ Federation. For convenience, this body is usually referred to as the Miners’ Federation.
