CreatorAustralian Iron and SteelDate1913-1982DescriptionAustralian Iron and Steel Pty Ltd (AI&S) was formed in 1928 when Hoskins Iron and Steel Ltd and other interests merged to develop steelmaking facilities at Port Kembla. In 1935, the company was acquired by Broken Hill Pty Ltd. At the time of the takeover, AI&S owned the Wongawilli and Steelworks Collieries.
