CreatorCosh, Janet L., 1901-1989Date1901 - 2008DescriptionJanet Cosh was born in 1901 in Sydney, NSW and was educated at Normanhurst School for Girls and the
University of Sydney before beginning a career as a teacher at Normanhurst. Later in life Janet Cosh settled in the Southern Highlands, near Moss Vale and developed an interest in botany and conservation and undertook extensive field work in the local area. On her death, Janet Cosh bequeathed funds and resources towards the establishment of a regional herbarium which was eventually located at the Wollongong campus of the University of Wollongong. The papers were donated to the University Archives by Jean Clarke, University Fellow and volunteer at the Janet Cosh Herbarium on the Northfields Ave Campus of the University of Wollongong in December 2017. Material in this collection had been in the files of the Herbarium since it's inception.
The collection consists of correspondence between Janet Cosh and various benefactors of her will including correspondence with the University of Wollongong and Wollongong City Council about the establishment of the Herbarium in Wollongong.Collection NameJanet Cosh CollectionUOW Archival Collection Inventories
