CreatorHawke, John Robertson, 1890-1965Date7 December 1916DescriptionOn 19 October 1916, the battalion again left Flanders for the Somme area. In early November, increased disability due to rheumatism resulted in Hawke's evacuation to England for convalescence at the 3rd Southern General Hospital in Oxford. Following his discharge, Hawke was attached, first to the 61st Battalion and then the 62nd Batten of the AIF at various camps in Wiltshire, England.SubjectAustralian Army.
