International House

Description

International House was originally named Illawarra House and was established in 1966 by the Y.M.CA. As a Y.M.C.A. establishment it provided accommodation for young men.

8 August 1975- The then Governor General of the Commonwealth of Australia, the Rt Hon Sir John Kerr, AC, KCMG, KStJ, QC officially opened International House, which was the University's only affiliated college, run by the Y.M.C.A. of Wollongong.

14 December 1980- University of Wollongong acquired International House, its first Hall of Residence from the District Y.M.C.A. Youth Clubs.
