He subsequently recorded his reminiscences of both his childhood and the war within several handwritten note books and drawing books. Some of these books also include his illustrations of Australian native animals. (Holman was a cousin to the artist Arthur Munch.) Before being donated to the University Archives, during the 1970s and 1980s some of the books were circulated around local schools in the southern Illawarra area.
