A Nationwide survey is being carried out at the request of the Commonwealth Government, to detect defects in the Australian road system. -- Police issued a warning to property owners and private firms to contact proper authorities in case they found any old explosives following the find of a dozen sticks of gelignite in a shed at Greenwell Point. The gelignite was discovered in the loft of a disused bus shed. -- Work started today on preparatory work for the demolition of one of the city's worst bottlenecks. Long regarded as a hazard, the Coniston road bridge is to be pulled down, to make way for a new railway overbridge. -- Two new squadrons were commissioned yesterday at HMAS Albatross, the Naval Air Station at Nowra. The two new squadrons were formed because of the introduction of two new types of aircraft into service. Squadron 805 has been equipped with A4G Skyhawk Fighters that operate at greater than the speed of sound. Squadron 816 has Grumman trackers for anti-submarine work. -- A 27 year old man appeared in court today and was charged with the murder of a man at Barrack Point last night. -- Relations between local government bodies and the local member of parliament are often strained. In Nowra, relations between Shoalhaven Shire Council and the local member Mr Jack Beale have been strained, and news man David Hill asked Mr Beal.
