The former prime minister is Mr Dom Mintoff, who is now leader of the Maltese Labour Party. -- Taking on another new role, Port Kembla coal loader today launched a further export industry for the area. Considerably smaller than the usual visitor to the coal loader, the Eduard Schupp berthed today to take on a shipment of zinc concentrates. -- Batemans Bay Ambulance will benefit from a speed boat racing program held on the Clyde River at the weekend. The racing was conducted by the Murrumbidgee – Canberra Speedboat Club, and several hundred people took the opportunity to enjoy a day's fresh air, beside the water. -- More than 70 young Pony Club members broke camp at Jamberoo today, after six days of learning the finer points of horsemanship. -- A young Woonona schoolboy's find on Woonona Beach is helping an international survey on ocean currents. A bottle was dropped 400 miles east of the state, and about 350 miles north of Wollongong last year, and it turned up on Woonona Beach yesterday afternoon. -- Wyangla Dam could become one of the feature tourist attractions on the Southern Tablelands. This was stated today by Mr Ron Brewer, the member for Goulburn, when commenting on the amount of development in the area. -- The Deputy President of Shoalhaven Shire Council councillor John Hatton is to stand as an independent at the next state election. Counsellor Hatton, will stand against the present South Coast Member Mr Beale, announced his decision at last night's meeting at Council.
