The decision will mean margins increases of up to $10 a week for metal trades workers in Australia. On the South Coast, the increases will immediately affect more than 3,000 workers, but eventually will involve up to 20,000 men. -- Residents and businessmen at the lower end of Keira Street in Wollongong don't know if they are coming or going, or if they are allowed to. -- The Leader of the federal Opposition, Mr Gough Whitlam, expressed concern over the Wollongong University College when in Wollongong this weekend. John Martin asked him how long it would be before the College attained its autonomy. -- A clean up campaign at the Mount Keira Diggers Rest Home could have saved the place from burning down during the weekend. On Sunday, fire broke out in the grounds of the Diggers Rest Home, and it would have spread to the buildings, if there hadn't been a clean up campaign the day before. -- In Goulburn, the spirit of Christmas is a strong as ever, with a strong support for the annual Christmas Bowl appeal. -- The Russian ambassador in Australia, Mr Nikolai Tarakanov, arrived in Wollongong this afternoon for a four day visit to the South Coast. -- There may be new hope for children who suffer heart disease, following a medical symposium held at Wollongong Hospital. The symposium was attended by more than 40 doctors from South Coast and Sydney hospitals.
