This is another in a string of functions organised by the committee to raise funds for the ambulance. -- The Electricity Commission has started on the mammoth project of replacing existing transmission pylons throughout the area. Estimated to be completed within three months, the pylons are being replaced with ones made of heavier duty steel. -- North Wollongong residents are up in arms about Wollongong Council's decision to tear down a number of trees and reclaim land during the widening of Cliff Road. After a number of debates Council decided to spend $97,000 widening the road. Two propositions were considered; one was to build a bridge to widen the road at a cost of $200,000, and the other was to cut down the trees and reclaim the land at a cost of $86,000. Council decided on the second course of action. -- Wollongong City Council is planning to spend $10,000 next year, cleaning up the four cemeteries under its control. Already the council has begun cleaning up operations at its cemeteries in Helensburgh, Scarborough, Bulli, and Wollongong. Many residents have complained to the council about the untidy state of the cemeteries, and the $10,000 to be spent next year will be money well used. -- A Wollongong man has just had a book published omma called physical aspects of coal carbonisation he is doctored Jim Stephens, physics lecture at Wollongong University. -- Farmers on the Southern Tablelands have been warned to take special care when dipping sheep after shearing time. This follows the accidental death of 81 ewes belonging to a Goulburn grazier.
